Relationship Reflection

Throughout my young life I have experienced a lot of bad relationships and a lot of good relationships. The bad relationships were the ones that you count as lesson and a blessing because it taught you things about yourself and others that you couldn’t see at first.  Whether it was an intimate relationship or friendship you learned that everyone that say the love you really don’t and those that say they are friend or girl/boy really aren’t. All relationships regardless of what they are built on trust, honest and great communication between people.

My good relationships seem to out weight my bad ones. I have a good relationship with my boys. They know that can always talk to their mother about whatever pop in their minds but sometimes if feel like my 15 year old takes it to the extreme just to see my reaction, me and sisters have more of a best friend relationship type bond. We always talk about everything.  My mother, grandmother and aunts are very close. My fiancĂ© and I are also close and sometimes it feels like we are brother and sister because we play a lot with each other.  All these relationships are extremely important to me because these people are my strength, my backbone and my reason for getting up in the morning.

If I had to choose just one relationship that I can’t do without is the relationship between me and my children.  If anything goes on in their lives I want to be there to be a part of it. I want them to know regardless if daddy is there or not their mother will always be there. Overtime I have learned that talking, being honest and trust worthy goes a long way in relationships. As a teacher these things are needed when talking to your students and parents. Students tell you things in confidence and they want to know that someone cares about them. Some students may talk to you about things that they can’t talk to their parents about and it could be the same when dealing with parents. They don’t want to talk about things that are going on at home but sometimes it slips out and they hope it will not get repeated. Teachers must remember that confidentiality is a must when working in the educational field.
